Our Nature Refined project is a simply elegant Laundry Room remodel that we used the mix of natural textures and shapes, but with a polished and elegant design.
Below is the floor plan we began with. The door on the left is coming in from the Garage. The client’s old plan had a long hallway with the first door on the left being a shoe closet and the second door on the left was the very small Laundry Room. A LOT of wasted space! We knew this could be better!
The Before
The New Floor Plan
So we moved the entire fireplace wall not because we needed to, but the client was also interested in making the Living Room more cozy. We then moved the door to center it within the new space and we basically got rid of the hallway! Now if you were looking for minimal construction, we would simply remove the Hallway by opening up the Shoe Room and the Laundry Room. Overall the goal was to walk through the Mud Room/ Laundry Room and not waste space.
The Design
We added a strong porcelain tile that had a gorgeous lava rock appeal to it. It is very slip resistant for those wet or muddy feet coming in the house. We ordered a longer size so we could lay it in a herringbone pattern. Then while looking for inspiration of nature, we adorned the walls in this leaf glass mosaic and contrasted it with a dark grout.
Renderings
Upon walking in from the Garage the left side has an additional fridge, washer and dryer, cabinets with very useful accessories like hamper pull out and an ironing board drawer. Because some Laundry rooms are where people organize their house hold we added a desk area at the end and a printer in the corner cabinet hidden away for when needed.
Then on the opposite side we have a closet to house all the cleaning supplies, extra coats and shoes. At the end of the run we graced the wall with lockers to keep all family members organized.
The Afters!
This is one of those projects that while we did the whole house, this room stood out as a favorite to us and the homeowners!
We worked with Kingdom Builders for the Construction on the entire house. See more of this project with our Rustic Elegance project page.
