Creating spaces that endure
Everyone wants a timeless design. They want the investment they make to be lasting and not to throw away money towards chasing trends. As your designer, we are also invested and want to help you be confident in your choices and how each space reflects YOU and your unique way of living.
UNDERSTANDING TIMELESS DESIGN
Timeless Design is associated with spaces that stand the test of time. They don’t feel worn out or out of style. Truth is – EVERYTHIG goes out of style. That is why people hire us in the first place. But by making smart choices that reflect things you love and choosing items and finishes that are made well, we can be on our way to a long lasting space you will enjoy for years to come!
KEY PRINCIPLES OF TIMELESS DESIGN
Timeless design has key principles to follow:
- A timeless room is balanced in proportion. The scale of everything in it is working in harmony.
- A timeless room has classic styles no matter how traditional or modern you might be.
- A timeless room has quality pieces and materials that are made well
- A timeless room is not something copied from Pinterest, but a room designed around YOU!
QUALITY OVER QUANTITY
If you have ever heard of fast fashion, where things are made inexpensively with low quality materials and often times questionable labor practices, guess what- they have that materials for your house as well!
Fast Interiors can be enticing to those who want a quick fix. The problem is when that sofa wears out and you need to replace it, not only does it just go to a landfill, but you are now paying for a new sofa. You hardly “saved” money because you have bought it twice.
We source things that are sustainable, renewable, and responsible. I can’t knowingly show you a sofa that was made in Cambodia by children. I can’t show you a chair that has a fabric that I know will ‘pill’ or not wear well or clean up. I don’t want items in your home to fall apart, but be lasting!
INCORPORATING NATURAL ELEMENTS
Besides how something is made, WHAT it is made of can also be timeless design factor. When you stick with more natural materials, they will last. Most natural materials will hold up longer, look better after time, and can be recycled. Some man-made materials can pill, weaken, be hard to clean, and age badly. While not all synthetics fibers or man made porcelain is bad, the MORE you have natural materials in a space, the more it endures through time.
BALANCING TRENDS WITH TIMELESSNESS
Remember when I said that everyone wants a timeless design? The way to achieve this is through careful assessment of how you live, the things that you and your family are drawn to, AND the elements that spark joy for you. Then we go to work creating a design that is curated, special, and quality driven.
Creating a timeless design doesn’t have to be hard, but needs to be thoughtful. If you need help putting together a timeless designed room for your home, set up a Discovery Call with us and we can talk about ways to work on your home together.
