Living in Music City (Nashville) most of my life, I have been blessed to be surrounded by great music, songwriters, & musicians. A song can transform your thoughts and feelings while inserting you into a narrative like no other.
A song can transform your mind and pull emotions out of you that cannot be expressed any other way.
As a Designer, I am inspired by many things, and music definitely evokes creativity. Sometimes a song designs itself in my head. So, I introduce you to ~
A ROOM DESIGNED BY A SONG – TAXIDERMY
This song was written by my friend, Natalie Hemby. She is super talented and I just love her voice! Any time I would see her perform live, I was always asking if she was going to sing this song. It has since been published on Kassi Ashton’s record. You have to check it out! It is such a fun song! Click here to listen to Taxidermy
Taxidermy’s Style is Urban Eclectic. This look is well traveled and a sophisticated blend of old & new, rough & sleek.
The sofa is a classic library piece covered in distressed black leather and mounted on a weathered oak base and trimmed in aged bronze nail-heads. While black is not a color but a value, it holds it’s ground and give your eyes a place to rest. Much like Taxidermy, she wants you to know that she is a grounded individual that while she is tired of the games, she is tough and can take you on!
The chairs are shown in a warm Chestnut leather with buckles on the side , which tells the story of “buckle up buddy! She means business!” Angular arms honor mid-century design, adding a throwback feel to a cutting-edge piece.
The Rug is a timeless nod to tradition and an anchor to the room. Taxidermy is an anchored girl, who is going back to a standard she had once forgotten. She is holding firm.
The Coffee Table is artisan crafted teak with a symphony of swirls, knots, grain and whorls. The craftsmen work with the wood, not against it, by embracing and celebrating the material’s intrinsic beauty. Like true works of art, no two will be identical. There is only one way to work with Taxidermy! You work with her or you are a dead man.
The Chandelier has two concentric orbs that are hand-forged into eight tapered steel petals merging at the sculpture’s apex. I see this as a sign of strength and merging beauty. What I love about Taxidermy is that she is more than a woman who refuses to let someone hurt her, she is finding out that she is worth so much more.
Taxidermy – a tell it like it is – Urban Eclectic style that we hope you will love as much as the song!
