Our client said a sophisticated cigar lounge and boy did we deliver! This study already gave a sophisticated feel from the floor to ceiling built in bookcases and lead paned window bank, but it was much too honey colored for a cigar lounge. The new hardwood flooring was brought in from the rest of the house and we began to bring back a richness this room was lacking. The trim carpenters painstakingly sanded down the book cases to have them re-stained this richer tone.
Let's talk about this stunning fireplace! This gothic arched brick fireplace was original and simply spectacular, along with the carved wood sun rays flanking each side. There was one obstacle we had to tackle, however, and that was the coffered ceiling. To add more of a dramatic feel in this room, we added a coffered ceiling detail to reflect other parts of the home. During the design phase we quickly realized the fireplace is not centered in the room, and if we did a traditional coffered ceiling grid that fact will stick out. So we took inspiration from the character of the room and decided to angle the coffered ceiling at a diagonal to mimic the lead panes in the window.
What cigar lounge doesn't need a tuxedo sofa? This 87" sofa in a cocoa brown leather is the staple for this room, we later based the leather strapped, arm rest club chairs on this rich leather. An antique mirrored coffee table bounced light from the large windows around the room and two fur ombre poufs add just a touch of rustic to this masculine room.
