I love designing Kitchens!
They are the heart and soul of the home and designing them not only brings such a change to the way the room looks, but I it provides a space that is so much more functional for my client and their family. I look at how they live and then find better ways to rework the space. Ironing out a solid plan and then selecting the finishes that will create the look we are after.
October is National Kitchen and Bath month, so I wanted to kick it off by showing you a recent project. First let me show you where we began.
This Kitchen had dark cabinets, not enough prep space, and a crowded corner where appliances were fighting for elbow room.
But what was not being used to it’s potential either was this wall of pantry closets. It seems like closets would give a lot of storage. But without direction, they just became a cavity without purpose.
So, I had the wall of closets torn out and properly designed to encase the fridge, pantry cabinets, and a bar/desk area that my client wanted.
This allowed for more prep space over by the stove area and gave the client a duel purposed desk/bar area.
One of the places to gain storage was using the volume of the space. So we took the cabinets to the ceiling by using stacked cabinets. Not only can she store a lot in this Kitchen but it draws your eye up and makes the space feel bigger than it was. Plus, who likes to dust on the tops of your cabinets?
We used classic white cabinetry in a shaker style and graced the counter tops with a beautiful quartz marble.
But one of my favorite things is the stunning handmade Raku pottery tile we used for the backsplash. Each tile is a piece of art and here is a short video I made of the installation. Green is so calming and the variations give this Kitchen so much character!
Here is what my client had to say about this remodel.
“ Rebecca oversaw all our Kitchen, half bath, and laundry room renovations. She was amazing to work with, and she always had such great and practical ideas. Our new areas have completely changed our home! Rebecca is so much fun to be around and go shop with. She kept me focused and took care of so many details. Even on the day before our backsplash was installed, she placed out the tiles and made sure the installation went smoothly and looked perfect. We will definitely use her again for our upstairs bathroom updates. She handles everything! -L. Smith

Thank you for sharing this! We just finished clearing out our kitchen of the old cabinetry and stuff using a dumpster rental and we’re now moving on to putting in the counters and new appliances. I love getting inspiration and want to look into getting a similar green backsplash like the ones you have in the picture. Thank you!
Glad you liked this post! Hope your Kitchen has turned out great!
