The Living Room is that central place where you gather with friends, relax after a long day, or cuddle up with loved ones for your favorite show. No two Living Rooms are the same! It all depends on how you – LIVE. If your Living Room is needing a refresh or a complete overhaul, we love working with homeowners to make over these important spaces! So, in this blog we will show you the process of working with Monarch Lane on a Full-Service Living Room project.
What does Full-Service mean?
Full-Service is a turn-key design experience, bringing any room in your home from concept to completion. Full service design caters to a complete makeover with our design team covering all the details. We pull you through every step of the way with design concept, planning, sourcing solutions, drawings, documentation, ordering all product, finding the perfect finishing touches, and installing all at once for a wow reveal!
WHERE TO BEGIN WITH YOUR LIVING ROOM DESIGN?

We always start with a Discovery Call to make sure we can take great care of your needs, timeline, and budget. Then we send you an invite to our client portal where everything for your project will take place.
HOW LONG DOES A LIVING ROOM DESIGN TAKE?
The Design Process for a Living Room project takes 9 weeks from the Kickoff meeting to project wrap up. Here is how we break it down.
CONSEPTUAL DESIGN PHASE – week 1-3
In Conceptual Design Phase We work to understand your wants, needs, and your personal style. We meet at your home in our Kick-off Meeting to document the space, scan the room with our lidar scanner, review the project goals, and conduct a creative session going over inspiration ideas. Back in our studio we work on drawings, design concepts, and how you will use your space.
Three weeks after our Kick-off Meeting we hold a Concept Design Meeting in our studio. We will go over Design Direction Mood board, show you two distinct design directions with materials, and two different floor plan options to work off of.
We come to the concept meeting with a Furnishings Investment Estimate (commonly known as the Budget) for the items we think you will need for the space. We work with you & get agreement so we can stay on track.
REVISIONS – WEEK 4 & 5
Right after Concept Meeting, we offer one round of revisions, communicated at one time. This helps us keep your project on track!
Don’t hire an Interior Designer if you have FOMO (Fear of Missing Out)! We see so many great solutions at Market and Industry shows so we bring the best to you according to your style, budget, and needs. So be confident in your decisions and trust us.
What usually happens is that most of our clients take parts and pieces from both designs at concept meeting and work off of that for the perfect design plan. If you wanted additional revisions, we can always send you a new proposal for the new design work. Being indecisive does affect time and money, that is why we take time to have a creative session at the kick-off meeting, have you load your inspiration pictures into your portal, and fill out our design questionnaire. We collaborate with our clients throughout the process making sure the final design is perfect for them.
DESIGN SOLUTIONS PHASE – week 5 & 6
In the Design solution phase we shop for you to put together all material selections needed in your design projects. We will discuss quality, sustainability, and aesthetic, making sure everything works together with color, style, and design.
DETAIL DESIGN STAGE -week 7 & 8
In the Detail Design Phase we work to price out all the design solutions and check them against our Furnishings Investment Estimate that we all agreed upon at Concept Meeting. We load all the products into our Online Design Studio also known as your client portal. We update all of the drawings and plans to reflect the design selections and prepare to present the custom design.
PROJECT WRAP UP – WEEK 9
At the Design Presentation, we show the Complete Room Designs Based on the Concept Meeting, Plan revisions, and the Furnishings Investment Estimate. If any product of solutions, there is One-round of Revisions for solutions (not another plan) but for us to tweak the materials, we can gather feedback and provide that if needed. At this meeting you would pay for all the furnishings, drapery, artwork, and anything needed to complete your room. This allows us to get your orders going and keep your project on track.
PURCHASING & EXECUTION
During this phase we order, track, and resolve any deficiencies. This phase is somewhat out of our control, but we can follow up consistently and update weekly on the status of orders. While their will be bumps in the road, we promise to see your room to completion!
TURN KEY INSTALLATION
It is important that you see the entire room put together at once and not pieces at a time.
This would be a disconnect from the overall vision. So we arrange for the furnishings & Finishing touches to be put everything together in one day. You will love the transformation! And finally, we give you a care book so you can take great care of your new room.
